The Children's Rehabilitation Foundation relies entirely on donations to fund the L.I.F.E. program (Leisure in Fun Environments) at the RCC. Children with special needs may require supports to actively participate in leisure activities. The goal of L.I.F.E. is to provide these opportunities for kids of all abilities. L.I.F.E. includes all of the following programs:
The RBC Therapeutic Recreation & Wellness Program
The Goal of the RBC Therapeutic Recreation & Wellness Program is to provide programming that gives children with physical disabilities or special needs more opportunities to engage in leisure and recreation, to make new friends and most of all - to have fun!
Fun Activities
Join us for adapted bowling, adapted curling, Wii, horticultural therapy, music and art activities, board games and more! In the near future, the program will be expanding to include drop-in fun evenings and other opportunities for socialization.
Information & Referral
Program therapists also provide information to families about their leisure and recreation opportunities available in the community.
Family Fun Days
Join us for Family Fun Days - where you can try out a specialized bike or tricycle, paint, make chalk art, play bocce and croquet and more!
Sunlife Sun and Fun Summer Camp
RCC is pleased to offer two summer camps thanks to donation from Sunlife Financial:
Switched On Camp
This camp is ideal for children and youth who use wheelchairs and are looking to develop computer skills for learning or communication. Because of its small enrollment (six campers per session), staff are able to offer individualized programming with a group setting.
Jump & Ride Camp
This camp is ideal for children and youth who are walking and need help learning gross motor skills, in a wheelchair and can participate in activities with adaptations or developing gross motor skills such as learning to ride a bike (maybe a 2 or 3 wheeler).
The Active Living Centre
The goal of the Active Living Centre is to promote active living and healthy lifestyles by making it easier for children with disabilities and their families to increase their recreation and leisure activities at home, school and in the community.
